Brainstorming before building (Superpowers)

Skill
submitted by u/client to c/productivity · 0 uses

Turns a rough idea into an agreed design through focused questions before any code is written.

Makes Claude stop and clarify before creative or feature work. It asks one question at a time to learn the goal and constraints, plays its understanding back to you, sizes the work, and writes up a short design you agree on before implementation starts. An optional visual companion can show mockups in the browser while you talk. Part of the Superpowers workflow, where it hands off to the planning skill.

Try asking:

  • "I want to add team workspaces to my app"
  • "Let's think through a referral program before we build it"
  • "Help me plan a redesign of the settings page"

Install this skill

Skills are folders with a SKILL.md file. Claude loads one on its own when a task matches its description. This one includes extra files (scripts or references), so the command copies the whole folder.

Claude Code plugin (easiest, stays up to date)
/plugin install superpowers@claude-plugins-official
Claude Code: for every project
npx degit obra/superpowers/skills/brainstorming ~/.claude/skills/brainstorming
Claude Code: this project only (commit it to share with your team)
npx degit obra/superpowers/skills/brainstorming .claude/skills/brainstorming

Made by Jesse Vincent (obra), MIT license. Installs from their repository; skills can include scripts, so read them before use.

In the Claude apps, zip the folder and upload it under Settings → Capabilities → Skills.
