MCP Toolbox for Databases (Google)

MCP server
submitted by u/client to c/backend · 0 uses

One server for Postgres, MySQL, SQL Server, SQLite, BigQuery, AlloyDB, Spanner and more, with prebuilt or custom tools.

Google's MCP Toolbox for Databases is an open-source server that ships prebuilt toolsets for many databases (pick one with --prebuilt=postgres, mysql, sqlite, bigquery, spanner and others) or loads your own tools.yaml with parameterised, reviewed SQL. Connection details come from environment variables documented per database. Custom tools.yaml files are a good way to give an agent only the specific queries you approve instead of free-form SQL. Useful for teams spanning several databases or wanting tight control over what an agent can run.

Try asking:

  • "Using the Postgres toolset, list all tables and their row counts."
  • "Show me the schema of the 'events' table in BigQuery."
  • "Run the 'top_customers' tool for last quarter."

Sign-in: an API key or token (set it in the install snippet below).
