Postgres MCP Pro (community)

MCP server
submitted by u/client to c/backend · 0 uses

Postgres server with schema exploration, EXPLAIN plans, index tuning and health checks, with a restricted read-only mode.

Postgres MCP Pro by Crystal DBA goes beyond running SQL: it lists schemas and objects, explains query plans (including hypothetical indexes), recommends indexes for your workload, finds the top slow queries and runs database health checks for vacuum, bloat, connections and replication. Connection is a standard DATABASE_URI. Use --access-mode=restricted to keep it read-only with time limits, and reserve --access-mode=unrestricted for development. A strong pick for performance tuning sessions on any Postgres.

Try asking:

  • "Find the five slowest queries and suggest indexes for them."
  • "Run a health check on this database and summarise anything concerning."
  • "Explain why this query does a sequential scan: SELECT * FROM orders WHERE email = $1."

Optional: fill these in to put them straight into the snippet. They stay in your browser and are never sent to CommandVault.
